Two days at the new daycare...

Change is hard on everyone... Especially for a little boy who has spent every workday with his favorite Jeanie. We tried out a new in home daycare two weeks ago and to be honest, it's difficult to write this post. (The reason that it has been so long since I've updated Brycen's blog.)
Jean needed a few days off at the beginning of the month and it presented a great opportunity for Brycen to spend two days at the new place. I expected s meltdown on the first morning and Brycen delivered a great performance. I knew he was in good hands but just had a feeling that that daycare wasn't "just" the right fit for him.
He picked up this new habit of saying "ga" when he is shy or wants to avoid a question. It has been pretty annoying and he has seemed to enjoy the attention he gets when saying it.
I think as I write this now, we have decided on a center named Harvest Christian Daycare. Brycen will do great. The facility is clean, safe, and has a routine that Brycen will thrive in. The transition will be the same, but he will be alright after a few days.
Tomorrow is the last day for Peyton at Jean's house and I don't even want to think about what Bryen (Burke and I) will go through next Friday on Brycen's last day.
As we were leaving Jean's last Friday night, Brycen was walking out to the car and Brycen failed to say goodbye to Jean before he went back into the house. He immediately burst into tears! I went over to him because initially, I wasn't sure what happened. Brycen just took my hand and tried to say that we needed to go back to her door. He was hyperventilating saying that he didn't get to say goodbye. Jean heard the commotion and met us at the door, confused. He told her goodbye, gave her a hug filled with love and was instantly better. I nearly cried seeing his love for her. She has truly been an Angel sent from God that has blessed our lives.

Baseball

At Easter time, Brycen received a baseball glove in his basket from the Easter Bunny.  We have had a lot of fun playing catch on the driveway. This is a video of Brycen & Grandma Blanchard playing catch:

Newly discovered playground

We are really going to miss Swisher. There are two really nice parks and we recently discovered the larger park in the North end of town. We have had fun stopping there to swing, climb around, go down the different slides and run across the chain bridge.
The park even has a grill that looks like a tractor. Brycen liked "driving" the tractor and kept repeating that he was a farmer.
We played in the General store and Brycen would make cupcakes, cookies, pies, quesadillas, and ice cream cones for a dollar each. We will do our best to make it up the park as much as possible in the next two months!

First Ink

Brycen received his first "ink" recently. On a beautiful evening when we were playing outside after supper, the Johnson County Sherriff drove down our street. I told Brycen that the sherriff had just passed our house and he grew very excited!
We watched as he drove down the cul-du-sac and stopped by a whole crowd of kids who were laughing and excited. In a few minutes, he went to the end of the road, turned around and started back our direction. We made our way to the end of the driveway and waited for him. I told Brycen that sometimes the sherriff will have a sticker to give good little boys. As he approached, he slowed down and offered a tattoo to Brycen. (Two in fact-lucky for us!)
Brycen was excited and we immediately went inside for bath time. After his bath, we put the tattoo on his arm. It was his first tattoo, so explaining that he could not easily take it off was new.  He was so excited to show his new ink off to Jean, Addie, Drew, and Peyton he nearly burst at the seams.
After a good might's sleep, the first thing he did in the morning was check to see if his tattoo was still there. It's slowly worn off by now with just a little green and black left his arm.
